Correct location configuration is essential, as all appointments, docks, and scheduling rules are evaluated within a location’s context.

What Is a Location

A Location represents a single physical warehouse or facility where dock activity takes place. Each location defines:
  • The facility’s time zone
  • Address and contact information
  • Scheduling defaults and rules
  • The docks where appointments occur
All appointments, docks, and operational data are always associated with a specific location.

How to Create a Location

Only administrators can create and manage locations. To create a location:
  1. Navigate to Settings → Locations
  2. Click Add location
  3. Enter the location’s general details
  4. Configure scheduling rules
  5. Save the location
Once created, the location becomes available for dock configuration and appointment scheduling.

Location Profile

The location profile contains the facility’s general information. These fields are used across the application and in external communication.

Location Name

The display name for the facility. This name appears throughout Yardo wherever the location is referenced.

Time Zone

The time zone in which the facility operates.
All scheduling, appointment times, and operational timestamps are evaluated using the location’s time zone.

Facility Code (Optional)

A short identifier for the facility.
  • Used across the application and APIs
  • Supports letters, numbers, and hyphens
  • Stored in uppercase
Facility codes are commonly used in appointment references, exports, and integrations.

Phone Number (Optional)

A contact phone number for the facility. This may be displayed to carriers or used for operational reference.

Address Information

Address fields define the physical location of the facility. This information may be used for:
  • Carrier directions
  • Documentation and exports
  • Future integrations and automation
Ensure address details are accurate and complete.

Scheduling Rules

Scheduling rules define the default behavior for appointments at the location.

Default Slot Interval

The default slot interval determines the initial duration for newly created appointments. For example:
  • 30 minutes for high-throughput operations
  • 60–120 minutes for longer loading or unloading processes
This value can typically be adjusted per appointment, but it establishes a consistent baseline.
The default slot interval should reflect the most common appointment duration at the facility.

Saving Changes

Changes to a location are not applied until they are saved. Click Save changes to apply updates. Changes take effect immediately and may impact scheduling availability and future appointments.

Best Practices

  • Set the correct time zone before scheduling appointments
  • Use clear, recognizable location names
  • Define a default slot interval that reflects real dock operations
  • Review location settings before inviting users or carriers

Summary

Locations form the foundation of scheduling and operations in Yardo. By correctly configuring location details and scheduling rules, organizations ensure accurate availability, predictable scheduling behavior, and reliable operational data.
